Sora Matsushima delivered a commanding performance in the semifinals of WTT Contender Taiyuan 2025, ending Xiang Peng’s hopes of back-to-back final appearances with a straight-games victory: 11-6, 11-9, 11-3.
Fresh off his title win at WTT Champions Incheon 2025, Xiang entered the match full of momentum and with the crowd behind him. But Matsushima, unfazed by the occasion, came out firing from the first point. He kept the pace high, the rallies short, and the pressure relentless—wrapping up the match in under 19 minutes.
It was a statement win for the 17-year-old Japanese rising star, who completely shut down Xiang’s rhythm, denying the Chinese player a triumphant run on home soil.
With this victory, Matsushima advances to his second-ever WTT Series final in Men’s Singles. Now, only one opponent remains between him and the title: top seed An Jaehyun, who awaits in the final.
Can the teenager complete his fairytale week and add another giant to his list? The final promises to be a thriller.
